after viewing 37 competition films, including: 13 fiction films, 18 documentaries, and 6 amateur films, has decided to award the 2024 Butterfly main prizes and special distinctions as follows:

In the Amateur Films Category

Special Mentions are awarded to:

  • Agnieszka Wiśniewska and Maciej Książko for the film "My Cat Florek" – for a touching and simple artistic form.
  • Mariusz Wieliczko for the film "Stereo Monologue II, Second Life" – for a moving story about a fulfilled life.

The 2024 Butterfly in the Amateur Films Category is awarded to:

  • Tomasz Łukianowski for the film "Memories" – for a beautiful fable with a moral, teaching how to live beautifully.

In the Documentary Films Category

Fourth Special Mention is awarded to:

  • Teymour Ghaderi for the film "Gando" – for a shocking story of childhood where despair and pain are part of everyday life.

Third Special Mention is awarded to:

  • Emi Buchwald for the film "Echo" – for a hopeful story showing that one can overcome their own limitations.

Second Special Mention is awarded to:

  • Yaser Talebi for the film "Daughter" – for courage in tackling difficult topics and fighting for a better world.

First Special Mention is awarded to:

  • Kinga Pudełek for the film "Consciously Being Here and Now on a Meadow Full of Balloons" – for a beautiful story of finding a new path in life, which changes so abruptly.

The 2024 Butterfly for Best Documentary Film is awarded to:

  • Małgorzata Kozera for the film "Agata's Faces" – for portraying the relentless struggle to appreciate the beauty in every moment of life.

In the Fiction Films Category

Special Mentions are awarded to:

  • Katarzyna Lewek for the film "Tandem" – for an extraordinary story of beautiful friendship and the power of dreams.
  • Olavo Junior for the film "On Sunday" – for a tender story about love.

The 2024 Butterfly for Best Fiction Film is awarded to:

  • Piotr Kamiński for the film "Noises and Tones" – for a story about a beautiful relationship between a son and his mother.

Special Jury Distinction is awarded to:

  • Ignacy Cholewa – for an extraordinarily mature acting performance in the film "Noises and Tones".

Special Awards

Youth Jury, consisting of:

  • Klaudia Kocik
  • Patrycja Mendyk
  • Dawid Nykiel

awarded the prize to:

  • Piotr Kamiński for the film "Noises and Tones".

The film highlights the exclusion of deaf individuals in everyday situations through short film, humor, and relatable characters. It opens the viewer's eyes to a real issue and draws attention to systemic problems.

The Audience Award goes to:

  • Monika Meleń for the film "Ania from Piekielnik".
